Overview :
X10 Dispatcher is a Windows application which relays events raised in an
X10 automated environment using MSN Messenger, email, and the web. It is a computerized
agent which I let deal with the x10 network instead of me. You have to leave a Windows-based
Internet-connected computer turned on with the program running to gain its benefits.
If you came here from a google search and/or know nothing about x10 networks, see
the X10 website here. Basically, while the company is notorious for its email and
popup marketing campaigns, they are also a pioneer in home automation. And while
there may be competitors, the current generation of home automation products almost
always interoperate with x10 as 'the' standard protocol for Power Line Communication
(PLC).
Doing this you can :
- Have alerts sent to a cell phone, pda, or remote computer via Email or MSN
- Monitor and control x10 network via MSN Messages
- Monitor and control x10 network via Web
- Set up complex actions to run when an x0 event is heard (such as run programs, play sounds, control external application, send emails and images, etc.)
