Web Server :

This is a great way to remotely monitor and control your home.  Usually, when you are away from home, you can get access to the web.  Although your cell phone is there always and is very good for alerting, you cant view alot of information from your cell phone.  This is where the Web Server comes in.

Monitoring : When the web server is enabled, and X10Dispatcher is running (it doesn't even have to be armed), you have a web site which can tell you just about every bit of information that X10Dispatcher knows about.  This includes all of its images, its Alerts, X10 event history, Status and Statistical Information, Email Inbox monitoring, CallerID logs, Power Monitoring messages, etc.

Remote Control : If you have configured X10Dispatcher Macros then you can 'Invoke' them over the web.  You could set up a macro to simply do one thing like turn on light.  After doing that, you can now turn on that light anywhere you have access to a web browser.  You could also make complicated multiple-step macros performing a variety of features (see the section on macros).  You can set up a password so that only you can invoke these macros.  If you use this web site from multiple computers or devices around the home (such as a wifi PocketPC), then you can make it so that your home computers don't need to enter a password to invoke macros.

Lastly, you can somewhat customize the appearance of the website, setting up your own color schemes, captions, and insert extra html like links, messages, or web pictures/logos.
